Mr.  Pitts  has  had  over  12  solo  exhibitons, starting  from  1974  to  2011 and  has  participated  in  over  36  group  exhibitions from  1972  to  2010.  Since 1976 he has  published  over  50  reviews, essays, critiques  and  exhibition  notes on  the  arts.

Food  for thought - excerpt  from  my  essay  on "Sphere-ritual-reality" (Spirituality)  in  Afrikan-American  Art........  Afrikan-American art  is a  sacred tool,  that  allows  us  to  recover  our  Sphere-ritual-reality,  in  order  to regain  consciousness  and  recapture  our  Sphere-ritual  breath (consisting  of   "inhaling through  meditation or  listening to Spheret,  and   "exhaling"  through  prayer  or talking  to   the  Spheret).   It's  for  this  reason,  that I  believe  so  many Afrikan-American  artists  listen  to or  inhale (through the  ears) Sphere-ritual  consciuosness,   from various  genres   of  conscious  Black  Music, as a critical   part of  their  creative  process - so that  what  is  "exhaled" ( through   their  hands)  as  artwork  or  "visusl   prayer",  carries  a  certain  Sphere-ritual  presence  about   it . This  is  further  underscored by  the  Afrikan   rpoverb  that  reminds us,  that  "Spheret  willl  not  descend  without  a  song" .  This  presence  gives  the  work ,  a  ceetain  Sphere-ritual power.  By  Sphere-ritual  power, I  am  referring  to  the  union   beteen  the  presence  of  Spheret,  and  the intelligence  of  Spheret.  Traditionally,  this  is  what  folk  in  the  Black church ,   call  "Holy   Ghost  Power.'  The movement  of  this " power"   througth  the  black  visusal  arts,  assists  Black  follk, in  reintergrating   their capacity to Sphere-ritually regain   their  own  sight  and  voice,  and  once again  see  and   hear (2/5),  and  thus  become  whole(moving  from  3/5 of  a  person  to  a  5/5  person)   again.  To  be  continued........

Your msgs already come to my email.  Thanks so much for sending the essays.  I've been a fan of the written word since I was little.  I only began my love affair with the Visual Arts in 2005.  Where I used to put my feelings into words I now put them on canvas :)    Thanks again,  Jo Ann
