Got a request 30 min ago to exhibit work at a Bank of America event for a Black employees Group. (my reply below).

Sharome a few things. First Black History Month is in less then five days, this is a little last minute to be approaching anyone for a holiday we've known about months in advance. Secondly I am not a street vendor, I don't "stop by and show my artwork", I exhibit it. You have also not listed any specific dates and times.

Thirdly, I am going to be very…

Poem : Chains Of Pain

My heart feels heavy
My soul gentry weeps
For compassion for my soul

The dove of peace
Flies by me
Never stopping to embrace me

For as the eagle
Soars high above and free
I’m shackled by the chains of pain

Poem : Why I'm A Artist

Why I'm A Artist

To let the words
flow from my soul
To my pen

As I write of the feelings
That I have
Onto the paper

And form in to a poem
To express myself
To the world

My hopes,my fears
My cares, my hurts
All that is me is in my art form

I'm a artist
And in my art form I live
My lover is my art form

functional art - another rant

Ok so I've accepted the fact that I'm eccentric and not exactly 'the norm'. Dr. Seuss, who was & is one of the greatest artist/philosophers is my therapist, King Solomon & Mesonius Ruphus were both wise, turpenoid should be revamped, dolphins are captivating yet strange animals that seem to have  a human like aura, oh, and i'm a black artist who doesn't really render black art.

But as I think about artist, not the overly eager MFA post graduated ready to sell their soul for…

In The Mix: The assimilation of Hip-hop Culture

As controversial as it may be, I am arguing that there are strong parallels between the history of minstrel shows and Hip-hop’s commercially successful gangster rapper persona-fiction. And, just as the continuing assimilation (through desegregation) of African-Americans shed many stereotypes perpetuated by…
