Posting Other's Work

I always find it interesting that artist copy other artists, but I find it kind of distrubing for people to post other's work, but with their name on it! This is weird! What do you think of the ethical and legal ramifications?! Kind of 'UGHs' me... :-/

Poor Little Black Boy Walking Down The Street

Poor Little Black Boy Walking down the street. Munching a bag of Skittles. Didn't know whom he'd meet. Ran into the Devil. Looked into his eyes. Got a hateful look. And a bullet by surprise. Poor Little Black Boy. Laying dead in the street. His American Dream. Lay bloodied at his feet. He ran into the Devil. And didn't know what to do. "Run Little Black Boy" If this happens to YOU.

Surrealist Norm Maxwell elevates Trayvon's soul

LOS ANGELES (April 21, 2012) ---Rising Soul is the latest series of paintings by Los Angeles artist Norm Maxwell. The large monochromatic oils glow neon red, depicting dramatic scenes where the subjects seem to be captives of a turbulent dream world. Maxwell's social commentary draws inspiration from American patriotic works like, "Washington Crossing the Delaware" and "The Spirit of…

Thanks and I still need a few more cameras

Just wanted to say thanks to those who responded to my call for cameras for the kids. One camera has arrived and another is on the way. I'm planning this program to run for a total of 6 weeks and will be working hard to get kids from the Black community involved.

I'll be offering some scholarships for the workshop fee and I can still use some more cameras.

If any one has an old digital P&S with a zoom lens and you're going to send it to the thrift shop or Goodwill send it…

Are Artists Selling Out?

Prior to the 1970's, most artists made a series of original art works to open thought and make a social impact on society. Today, the commercial component has made many artists switch faster than prostitutes selling their behinds as it relates to artist's chosen fine art and/or commercial art markets.

The truly sad aspect of this global change, is that it has left out the people and communities in which these artists come from. Artist use to appreciate showing their original…

Justice for Marissa

After hearing about this case on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, I had to post this story. Please read and share this story. This is another miscarriage of justice in the State of Florida. The woman in this case is facing 20 years in prison for shooting a warning shot at a man who was attacking her inside of her home.

Marissa Alexander was protecting herself from a violent man who entered her home intent on doing her harm. She was within her rights to…

I need some cameras for some kids!1

Hi Art Friends & Art Lovers,

I have an opportunity to put together a 9 week summer photography program for students 11-18 years of age. I know that there are many in my community that have kids they would love to see in the program and have limited funds/no camera, especially a digital camera.

I'm going to offer some scholarships for the truly needy and would like to provide cameras to those that have no camera to use during the program and to be used again if I can…

Preserving A Nation With The Tom Joyner Foundation

As I reminisce on my recent exposure to the Tom Joyner Foundation, thoughts of original Black Art (by some of today's living legends), being delivered to doorsteps around the nation comes to mind. Two weeks after working on the Tom Joyner Cruise, I smile with pride & joy at the examination of what I have just experienced. To bear witness to such a prestigious organization with a phenomenal cause is nothing short of amazing.

"Established in 1998, the Tom Joyner Foundation's…
