Fountain Square Art Festival (FSAF) marks my first experience in the festival circuit. FSAF taught me 3 key lessons - fortitude, camaraderie, and purpose.
Fortitude is the courage to continue in the face of uncertanity. There is a great deal of uncertainty associated with participation in juried shows. Generally the selection process begins by submitting 3 - 4 photographs of your best art along with a non-refundable application fee. It is difficult choosing photos that will…Continue

For My Fellow Artist Friends,
A belated happy fathers day to you all of you who are fathers and to the sisters who have had to fill both roles. I spent the weekend on the road visiting the Montgomery Greyhound Bus Station Museum, picking up my piece from the 2011 opening exhibition and checking put the artwork for the 2012 exhibition. It is some great work by Alabama artists and I will upload some photos tomorrow as we just got in a few hours ago.

In the beginning, landscapes or cityscapes were not interesting to me. I enjoy telling the human story, environment was, always, secondary: artistically. This has changed. While researching ancient cultures, particularly, those of ancient Africa; I discovered the human condition and the environment are connected, and on a spiritual level.

Marcus Jansen was born in Manhattan, New York City in 1968. Art Historian Jerome A. Donson, (Author of the American Vanguard Exhibitions 1961) notes Jansen as the "innovator of urban expressionism." A former Gulf War soldier who transformed his life from a soldier at war to a soldier in the arts is widely recognized for his edgy socio-political works over the last 15 years that inspire discourse among viewers and have been commissioned for companies like Absolut Vodka, Warner…Continue
